Chris Ragan

Born the final month of the '60s, Chris has been playing guitar since discovering his father's old Airline electric guitar in the basement when he was 6. He'd sit back and play along with his mother's bluegrass band when he was 10. At age 15 he worked on the railroad yards long enough to get enough money to buy his first electric and amp.

He's played around Kansas City since the late ‘80s in mostly fringe genres and experimental projects. Most notably Zerababyl (http://www.myspace.com/zerababyl), The August Project, The Enablers, Conspiracy A-GoGo, and DGPG.

A gearheaded guitarist, Chris prides himself on his rig. Several beaten but not-too-cheap guitars that have been irreversibly modified, an old Teisco Checkmate found in a roadside pile of trash and another built from a 50 year old PA head found at a yard sale. A veritable "Millennium Falcon" of a guitar rig.

Among his influences are the likes of Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Django Reinhardt, Motorhead, Marillion, The Grateful Dead (particulary from the ‘70s era), Einsteruzende Neubauten, Dead Can Dance, Manitas DiPlata, Phish, VoiVod, Johnny Cash, Emily Remler, The Beatles, Ozric Tentacles, and many many more….

Chris Ragan uses Reed James Custom pickups in his guitars, exclusively.
